Radical Devotion: Ethical Worship in Revolutionary Times

What does heartfelt devotion and worship to the Gods look like, when we are able to deconstruct the narrative of patriarchal religion, and rewrite our own rules? How can we nourish our relationships with our Gods to bless and strengthen our struggles for justice? How do we honor free will and reciprocity? Online sessions meet every other Monday evening, via the Zoom platform, from January 9 to April 3, 2023.

  • Jan 9: Weaving our Circle, Group Agreements, tools for centering & grounding. Getting started: exploring a personal devotional practice. Building and tending altars.

  • Jan 23: Who are my gods? How do I choose which ones to work with? What do I do if a deity chooses me? Grappling with cultural appropriation and ancestral ties in deity relationships. Making meaningful offerings.

  • Feb 6: Deconstructing the patriarchal narrative of worship. Basic principles for animist and polytheistic devotion. Song, sound and movement that honors the gods.

  • Feb 20: Sacred dialogue: how do I converse with my gods? Trance journeys, contemplation, sit spots, and receptive states. Crafting personal daily prayers.

  • Mar 6: Gods in the “real world” and incorporating them into more aspects of your life. How do I navigate sharing (or not sharing) my devotion with others? Engaging in community service as a form of devotion.

  • Mar 20: Vows and commitments: choosing them, crafting them, and releasing them. How to set boundaries with your gods and establish reciprocity. Creative expression as an act of devotion.

  • Apr 3: Celebration and sharing! Weavers are invited to share their work with a deity of their choosing. For example, you can create and share a piece of art/writing/music about them; formulate a daily practice, prayer, or spellworking in honor of the deity; or create some other manifestation of devotional work to share with the group.

Times listed are for eastern time zone.
